Here we go!

Today was the final packing day. I also briefly tested the bike again after installing a different gear ratio yesterday evening. Since my injury is unfortunately not getting better, I switched to 50/34 chainrings. I should now be able to climb every mountain sitting in the saddle, because riding out of the saddle unfortunately causes pain. Let’s see how far I can get with 7800 meters altitude climbing in total. Starting at 6 p.m. today, the race documents could be picked up in Aachen. It was nice to meet Dieter and other long distance runners before the event. Since the obligatory briefing was canceled this time for Corona reasons, I went straight home for a nice dinner and then to bed early, because tomorrow starts at 8:00 a.m., i. H. 6:00 a.m. at the latest, get out of bed, put my stuff in the car and off to Aachen.

Please keep your fingers crossed for me! Should it not work due to an injury and I have to drop out, I hope for your understanding. I promise to make up for the missing kilometers as soon as possible, maybe then another route. But maybe it will work out. In any case, I won’t give up so easily!

Otherwise it remains to be noted that the weather outlook is actually not that bad. At least the temperatures are very pleasant even at night, supposedly everything over 15 ° C. During the day up to 23 ° and cloudy, that’s ideal! The only thing missing is a tailwind 😁.

Weather along the route looks pretty good!

Those who come to the marketplace and the start tomorrow should be told that there will be a mask requirement on the entire marketplace. So don’t forget your mask. The “official ceremony” starts at 07:45 o’clock. So now it’s enough and the next message in this blog will only be available after the race. Please give me some time, in the coming days I will also have a lot of work in my job, so that I will have little time to write a longer report. But a short message will certainly arrive on Sunday, perhaps with a little delay.
