vWTTC on January 17th 2021

I participated  in the time trial world championships over the 12h distance, on January 17th 2021. Due to COVID-19 purely virtually “at home”. Due to technical problems the event has been postponed from December 6th to the new date in 2021. Still some participants experienced technical problems during the new event.

Miles4Malabon, earning of miles continues! Idea and Plan.

The time has come on January 17th, 2021. Paul Thelen, Roland Fuchs and I start the virtual time trial world championship over the 12 hour discipline (http://www.24hrworlds.com/).

What is vWTTC?

You ride for 12 hours on what is known as an “interactive starter trainer”, a device to ride your own racing bike while stationary within our apartment (s). The whole thing on-line, i.e. our data, in particular the services we provide, are transmitted to the organizers online and translated into speed using software. We virtually drive a real route, so we can safely participate in the world championship on a computer from home on the original route. The “real” world championship was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The route consists of two circuits of 18 and 4 miles in / around Borrego Springs, California. For us, this means driving the 18 mile circuit for 10 hours and then switching to the short 4 mile circuit for the last two hours. The start is in age groups, so that Paul and Roland will start in one age group and I in another.

The start is on Sunday, January 17th, 2021 at 6:00 a.m. CET. The race ends in the evening at 6:00 p.m. CET.

I am planning a live streaming for this, more details later.

Live tracking (information about where you are in the race) via the website of the organizer is also possible, so you can always follow where we are.

Why all this?

With the campaign and the Lifestream I would like to ask you for donations for the Malabon project group.

You can find more information about the work of the project group and other projects on my part for the project group at www.miles4malabon.de.

It is important to mention that we are participating for a good cause. Whether we end up in front or behind in the overall standings is irrelevant. The main thing is to have fun and especially to collect donations for children in need! But who knows me, knows that I won’t go for a walk there …

Remember, even small donations count and help the street children in the slums of Malabos in the Philippines.

I am counting on you!

Updates before and during the event are available here on betterplace.org and in my blog at www.miles4malabon.de.
