What an evening! I had the pleasure of giving a 90-minute talk about ultracycling and the Transcontinental Race in the public library of the city of Düren as part of the Night of the Libraries.

In front of an audience of almost 60 interested listeners, I talked about the fascination of these special races: From the intensive preparation and the rules to the mental and physical strain of thousands of kilometers across Europe.

The 90-minute talk was not only an opportunity for me to share my very personal experiences and impressions of this extraordinary race, but also a wonderful way to generate enthusiasm for a good cause. The attention and interest of the audience made the evening a special experience. Even better: together we were able to raise 880 euros for the street children’s project through donations – a result that really moved me and shows what is possible when passion and commitment come together.

I was also particularly pleased with the personal feedback after the presentation – it is always motivating to see how stories of long days in the saddle, unexpected encounters and inner perseverance can inspire.

And it continues! The next lecture has already been scheduled: on June 5, I will be speaking at the Städtisches Gymnasium in Herzogenrath – on the eve of the Malabon Run. Here, too, I don’t just want to talk about my trip, but also draw attention to the situation in Malabon and the important work of the project group. Maybe I’ll even run in the Malabon Run myself – to set another example and inspire the pupils not only for sport, but also for social commitment.

I am already looking forward to the next evening full of encounters, discussions and shared motivation – and I would like to thank everyone who made the presentation in Düren so special.I was particularly pleased that at the end of the evening we even raised €230 in donations – many thanks to everyone who contributed! With the online donations the amount increased even to more than 800 Euro by now (23.04.2025)

Thank you for your interest, your questions and the great atmosphere between bookshelves and adventure stories on two wheels!
