A year of challenges and hope

Dear readers,

2024 – what a year! It was a real rollercoaster ride of emotions and events for me. A year that put me to the test, but also taught me how important it is to look ahead and believe in your own goals.

Unfortunately, the year didn’t go as I had imagined as an ultracyclist. Several health setbacks forced me to cancel my participation in all planned ultracycling races. More than three months out of sport – that was a real challenge for my head and my heart. For someone whose life revolves around endurance, exercise and constantly reaching new limits, it was a difficult time.

But in the midst of all these hurdles, there was also one real highlight that I wouldn’t want to miss: taking part in the SGH school festival. There I had the opportunity to organize a virtual time trial for students and parents. It was a wonderful experience to pass on my passion for cycling in this way and to experience the enthusiasm of the participants at first hand. These moments have shown me how important it is to celebrate small successes and positive experiences even in difficult times.

Now, at the end of the year, it’s time to look ahead. 2025 is just around the corner and I am full of confidence and drive. My plans for the coming year are clear: in addition to giving inspiring talks about my experiences, it will finally be time to compete in at least one long ultracycling race again. The anticipation of this is already motivating me and giving me the strength to work towards a new chapter.

I would like to take this opportunity to say thank you to you all – for your support, your words of encouragement and your loyalty. It is you who make this journey so special.

Now I wish you a happy and reflective Christmas with your loved ones. Enjoy the time, recharge your batteries and have a good start to the new year 2025. May it be full of health, joy and success for us all!

I look forward to taking you on the journey again in the new year. Until then – stay healthy and motivated!

Yours
Bert
