The race starts in less than two weeks and time for preparations is running out. Training is progressing as planned, but I don’t have a rigid race plan — more of a flexible framework that I can adapt as race week unfolds.
Current training & form
– Last week: 592 km on the bike (commuting rides on the e‑bike not included).
– May total: just over 2,000 km across my bikes.
Overall form feels solid; endurance is there, now it’s about race‑specific sharpening and recovery.

Equipment decisions (still open)
– I’m still weighing different bike choices and luggage setups (bags vs. minimal packing).
– Final choice depends partly on weather forecasts: if it stays warm as currently predicted, heavy sleeping bag and thick jackets may be unnecessary. I’ll decide closer to departure.

Plan for the long weekend
– Next weekend includes a holiday and a bridging weekday — I’ll use that block for a long endurance ride and final gear tests, plus focused rest and sleep optimization.
Race logistics & communications
– Race start: Saturday, 13 June, 05:00 AM
– I created a WhatsApp channel for live impressions during the race — follow there for updates.
Link to the WhatsApp channel is here: https://whatsapp.com/channel/0029VbDRGIN8aKvRhmo5rD2X
– I will largely avoid Instagram posts due to time constraints; checkpoint gaps are tight and the 90‑hour overall limit leaves little margin.
Tactical notes for the race
– Keep the race plan simple: ride steady, prioritise sleep and food, and adapt to course and conditions.
– Respect checkpoint cutoffs and use planned cut‑offs as bailout options if needed.
– Manage effort early — the race is won by those who last, not those who burn out.
Ride safe — see you on the road.
